Jasper de Bruin (Amsterdam, 1979) is a director, writer and producer with a background in the arts and letters. He likes to work in genre; his films often strike a melancholic, ominous tone.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2006, he honed his craft as a director and producer working and collaborating on experimental films and commissions. He also wrote and co-created the premium game LAST INUA (2014). Jasper started his independent production company DE MAN & DE VOS in 2010.

The surreal short FAST NACHT (2014) has won several awards at Dutch filmfestivals. His short horror film NIGHTINGALE (2020) had a successful run at the international festival circuit: the film premiered at Fantasia’s ‘Small Gauge Trauma’ showcase and was nominated for a Golden Hugo at the Chicago Film Festival and a Silver Méliès at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. He developed and refined his screenwriting skills at the Scenariovakschool in Amsterdam – where he graduated in 2024 with a script for a TV pilot, a topical story about a young girl who finds out she’s a witch.
